Halloween is a great occasion to add some fun, thematic centres to help introduce your students to key literacy skills! If you are on the hunt for an easy-to-set-upeasy-to-explain, engaging literacy centre in French with a Halloween theme, you are in the right place! These pumpkin puzzles and optional recording sheets are sure to be a hit in your French primary classroom.

This resource includes:

  • ☛ 26 Upper- and Lowercase matching puzzles (in colour)
  • ☛ 28 Letter and Beginning Sound matching puzzles (in colour)
  • ☛ A 1-page recording sheet for the letter match puzzles (black & white)
  • ☛ A 2-page recording sheet for the sound match puzzles (black & white)
  • ☛ A word list for the beginning sound puzzles

The beginning sound matching puzzles include two images for both C and G (hard and soft sounds). As many images as possible have a Halloween theme. This is a great way to get your students thinking about the beginning sounds of some new vocabulary!

To prepare this centre, you simply need to print each pa ge and cut out the puzzle pieces. I suggest printing on card stock and laminating so that you can use them for years to come! You can also make these puzzles self-correcting by putting matching stickers or symbols on the backs of the pieces that go together.
