Description
We all know that students need hands-on practice when it comes to math. If we want them to master our math outcomes, they will need to manipulate, explore, and play with numbers in a hands-on way.
COVID-19 has added a whole new layer of challenge to this!
When I found out that we would be heading back to school in person this year withOUT group work or sharing allowed, I knew I needed to find a new way for my students to get the hands-on math practice they need.
Enter… Math Mats & Manip-Kits!
You can use the mats in this resource along with manipulates during your math block to help your students practice & master number sense (to 100), patterning, counting, addition, subtraction, comparing sets, sorting and more!
Inside this resource, you’ll find suggestions for making your math kits, as well as a table of contents for each mat + ideas for how to use them.
You can choose to use any of the mats you like! I have a set of mats printed in a half inch binder for each student. I put mine inside of page protectors so they can “write & wipe” on them with a dry erase marker.
If we switch to distance learning, I plan to send home my students’ math mat binders & manip-kits so we can continue with hands-on practice at home.
This math unit includes:
- Instructions & ideas for making individual math manipulate kits
- A hyperlinked table of contents, to help you easily find the mats you’re looking for
- Suggested activities for each mat – these are in black & white so you can easily print them out and keep them on hand to reference as needed
- 53 different math mats for outcomes like counting, number sense, sorting, skip counting, patterning, comparing sets, addition, subtraction, story problems, and more!
**Please note that I have created this resource with outcomes for première année in mind. There are mats for numbers to 100 as well as addition & subtraction included. That being said, many of the mats could also be used in maternelle – just not all!
*This download entitles the purchaser to use it in ONE classroom only. Thank you so much for respecting my time and effort!*
