FRENCH Literacy Activity: Sounds Crafts for French Complex Sounds (Bricolages)

Make teaching French complex sounds and engaging with these hands-on sons complexes crafts! This resource includes 18 different complex sounds anchor word crafts for the French language – perfect for maternelle and/or première année students.

 

These crafts use lowercase letters to make an object that contains each sound. For example, students will use the sound on to make a cochon. These crafts will help your French primary students improve their fine motor skills (cutting and gluing), while also helping them learn an anchor word for each complex sound.

 

And, there are two options for prepping, so you can decide which works best for you!

 

These French sounds crafts are a perfect addition to interactive notebooks, or as a stand-alone activity. They also work well to leave as part of a substitute plan or emergency plans.

 

Each craft comes with two templates:

 

Template 1: You can choose to print all of the craft pieces on one sheet of white paper, and then have your students colour the pieces, cut them out, and put them together.

 

Template 2: You can print or trace directly onto coloured paper! This option saves time as your students won’t be colouring, but it does cost more money and time for you.
