What’s Included:
- Decoding & Encoding Activities: Four unique game boards for each vowel sound (two for decoding, two for encoding) – 24 game boards total.
- Reusable Game Boards: Print and laminate each board to reuse year to year as part of your French literacy centres.
- Simple Setup: All students need is a laminated game board, a dry erase marker, a die, and something to erase with.
How It Works:
- Option 1: Decoding Practice: Students roll a die, identify the object beside the number rolled, then locate and trace the correct word in the table below. This activity reinforces decoding by linking objects with their written names.
- Option 2: Encoding Practice: In this option, students roll a die, name the object, and use their knowledge of vowels and letter sounds to spell the object’s name in the table. This hands-on approach supports encoding skills by building letter-sound connections.
Ideal for literacy centres or independent practice, this French Science of Reading activity provides essential vowel sound practice, helping students build a strong foundation in decoding and encoding French words.
