Description
Make learning to read fun and engaging with this science-of-reading-aligned game, perfect for French primary students in Kindergarten to Grade 2. Designed to support young readers mastering complex sounds (digrammes & trigrammes), this game is ideal for literacy centres or small group activities. Each game board features a fun anytime theme.
What’s Included?
- 72 practice cards featuring 3-5 letter words, organized by sound (on, ou, au/eau, an/en, ch, in/ain, eu, oi, ai), so you can introduce new sounds as your students progress.
- 5 anytime game boards (cupcake bears, detective bears, plant shop, space, bears & honey), allowing you to keep the activity fresh and exciting throughout the year.
- An “I Can” card for independent play and simple instructions for easy setup for each game.
How It Works:
- Print, cut, and laminate the game boards and cards you want to use.
- Students place 6 cards on the game board and take turns rolling the die.
- When a player rolls a number, they try to read the corresponding word on the board. If correct, they keep the card and replace it with a new one.
- Watch out for the EEK card—roll its number, and everyone’s piles go back into the discard pile!
- The game continues until the deck is used up or for as long as time allows—no winner necessary!
Key Features:
- Science of Reading Alignment: Activities are structured to build decoding skills in line with literacy research.
- Flexible & Customizable: Choose how many cards to include, tailoring the game to your students’ needs.
- Engaging Anytime Themes: Rotate game boards throughout the year and keep students excited to play.
- Independent or Guided Play: Use in literacy centres, small groups, or during intervention sessions.
