Do your French primary students struggle with efficiently blending letter sounds together to read new words? Do they need more practice associating upper- and lowercase letters? Or perhaps they need more work on isolating and identifying beginning sounds.
If yes to any of the above, then this resource is sure to help!
Use this literacy centre / small group activity in your French primary classroom to help your students practice a ton of important pre-reading and reading skills! This resource includes game boards for upper- and lowercase letter association, beginning sounds, vowels, and “sons complexes”.
Students can play this game individually or with a partner. To play, they will need a paperclip and pencil to make a spinner and 20 snap cubes. The object of the game is to try to cover all of the objects in the grid before covering all four of the “Zut!” objects.
The different versions of this game make differentiation a snap! And, the prep is super easy. Just print, laminate or slide into a page protector, and go! Students can clear the board and play again and again because it’s not easy to “win”.
This resource contains thirty different game boards.
- 7 boards for letter association
- 7 boards for beginning sounds
- 6 boards for vowels
- 10 boards for sounds represented by 2+ letters (sons complexes)
Silent letters are written in gray, and sons composés are underlined.
