Lire et redire des petites histoires THE BUNDLE – French Read & Retell Bundle

Original price was: Étoiles⭐60.Current price is: Étoiles⭐48.

Do your French primary students need support with reading (or listening to) and retelling stories in order, en français? Mine too! That’s why I created these resources.

Each of the resources in this bundle contain five very simple stories. Each story contains a character(s), a setting, and three main events (début, milieu, fin).

Students can use the provided cards and mat to put each story in order with visual support, the “sliders” to practice retelling from memory, and/or the included puppets to retell each story in their own words.

Each of the resources in this bundle contain five very simple stories. Each story contains a character(s), a setting, and three main events (début, milieu, fin).

They are also encouraged to “imaginer la suite de l’histoire” – what might happen next?

Mats:

Print page 4 on white card stock. Use packing tape to tape the strip that starts with 2 directly beside 1 (so that it is one long strip instead of two short strips). Students can use the cards provided with each story to put the events of the story in order, and then retell it using the picture supports.

Sliders:

Print the sliders on card stock (I like to have one per student in my group; there are two/page so I cut them apart). Laminate, and then hole punch the two holes on each slider. Add a pipe cleaner with a single bead, and tape the ends to the back of the slider on each end. Students can slide the bead along the pipe cleaner as they retell each part of the story, in order.

Depending on your students’ abilities, they might be able to read each story on their own, or you might need to read it to them. Remember, the main focus of this activity is retelling, so it’s okay if they need your support with the reading part.

I like to print the page with the story for each student. We read (or they read) the story three times, colouring a story each time.

Then, I have my students draw or write to complete the sheet after they have correctly retold the story to me using either the sliders or the retelling cards.

Finally, we use the puppets if there is any time remaining to retell the story again!
