FRENCH Rhyme Puzzle Mats – Les rimes en maternelle

Rhyming is SUCH an important skill for our students to master!

It is essential that our young students become experts at hearing, identifying, and manipulating sounds in words in order to help them become successful readers.

Understanding rhymes can help students be better able to read and write later on!

Your students will LOVE solving these self-correcting seasonal puzzles using their rhyming knowledge! This resource includes 8 different puzzle mats & cards in colour, and the same 8 mats in black & white.

How to play:

1. Prep the mats and puzzle pieces by printing, laminating, and cutting apart the puzzle pieces (not the mats!)
2. Students will use what they know about rhyming to help them solve the puzzle. Each puzzle piece has a rhyme “clue” to help students know in which rectangle to place each piece on the mat
3. Students will say the name of the object in each rectangle, and find the object that rhymes with it on the mat. They will cover each object on the mat with the corresponding puzzle piece to build the picture

• The same 8 puzzles in black and white

The full colour puzzles are great for literacy centres when printed on card stock and laminated, and the black & white puzzles can be copied on regular printer paper and used as an independent activity.
