FRENCH Fine Motor Snap Block Math Centre Mats – Roule, compte, place

Looking for ways to develop spatial skills and 1:1 counting skills in your primary students? Want to encourage them to see some of the awesome things you can compose with snap blocks?

These fun Fine Motor Snap Block Math Centre Mats will keep your students engaged during math centres, and get them excited to build and create!

To prep this centre, simply print and laminate. Your students will need snap blocks and a die to complete each puzzle (not included).

Three ways to play:

1. Individually: Students will roll the die and add that number of cubes to their picture (any colour), until their picture is complete. If they roll a 6, they roll again.
2. With a partner (option 1): Partners share a mat. They take turns rolling the die and adding that amount of cubes to the mat (any colour). If they roll a 6, they roll again. The first partner to complete their picture is the winner.
3. With a partner (option 2): Partners share a mat to use as a reference but will build their own objects on the provided blank mats, using the picture as a guide. One at a time, each partner rolls the die and adds that amount of cubes to their mat (any colour). If they roll a 6, they roll again. The partner who places the final cube is the winner (they must roll the exact amount to fill the final spaces(s)).

For an extra challenge, have your students add their cubes using tweezers!

Each card includes:

• An image showing students where to place each block in order to build the puzzle
• A clip art image of the object to build
• All cards are rectangular and full-sized – no cutting required! I do suggest either laminating or sliding into a page protector for multiple uses

This math centre is great way for students to practice their spacial skills, and begin to see how objects are composed of smaller shapes!

This resource includes 31 mats in total – 30 mats with objects to build, and a blank mat they can build on for an extra challenge, or to play with a partner.
