Card games make for great math centres – when students are playing games, they often don’t even realize that they are learning ;)
Go Fish and Memory are games that many students know already… and are easy to learn for those who don’t! Get your students to use these cards to play Go Fish and/or Memory with a twist – rather than having to find the exact same cards with the exact same images, students will need to find cards with the same quantities. These cards are awesome for practicing the important skill of subsidizing, in a fun way!

Go Fish and Memory are games that many students know already… and are easy to learn for those who don’t! Get your students to use these cards to play Go Fish and/or Memory with a twist – rather than having to find the exact same cards with the exact same images, students will need to find cards with the same quantities. These cards are awesome for practicing the important skill of subsidizing, in a fun way!
All you need to do to prep is print and laminate the cards for durability. The I Can cards will help your students stay on track if they forget what to do!
*I do suggest printing on coloured card stock (rather than white) for this game, so students can’t see through the backs of the cards*
This math centre is for practicing subsidizing quantities from 1-10. It also includes a “carte Je peux” to help foster student independence – if they forget what to do during the centre, they can just check the directions!
