French SPRING Math Centres – plus ou moins? (Centres de maths en français)

Here is a great Spring French math centre to practice comparing numbers from 1-10 with your primary students! Students will figure out which cards show more or fewer objects during this fun card game.

This game is kind of like the card game “War”, with a twist. Students will play in partners. Each partner draws a card. They decide together which card has more objects, and which has fewer, and place them on the correct sides of the comparison mat.

But, just because a card has more doesn’t make it automatically a winner! Students will then spin the spinner to determine the winner – sometimes it is the card with fewer objects. The winner can add both cards to their deck, and play continues until one player has all the cards.

To complete the spinner, students will need a pencil and paperclip.

This math centre compares quantities from 1-10. It also includes an “I Can Card” to help foster student independence – if they forget what to do during the centre, they can just check the directions!
