FRENCH Valentine’s Day Decoding Practice Word Searches – La Saint-Valentin

Looking for a fun, engaging, phonics-based French Valentine’s Day resource to help your students think about the sounds that make up many of the Valentine’s Day-themed French words they read and/or say?

These unique word searches will help your students break words up into their units of sound and put them together… they will be reading new words without even realizing it!

Each page contains a word bank. Students will search for the words inside of the word search. Instead of one letter per box, there is one SOUND per box. Once students find the word, they can read it sound by sound, “say it fast”, and then find the picture that shows it.

Under the correct picture, they will copy each sound into its box to spell the word.

All words in these puzzles have a « Saint-Valentin » theme.

Each sheet includes:

• a word bank with six words to find in the puzzle
• a puzzle with one sound per box where students can find and circle each word, decoding it sound by sound
• an illustration for each of the six words with sound boxes below. Once students read the words they find by decoding it in the puzzle sound by sound, they can write each word sound by sound in the boxes under the correct illustration
• 8 Valentine’s Day-themed puzzles in all!
