FRENCH Alphabet Pattern Blocks Math / Literacy Centre Cards

Looking for an engaging centre activity that works on a variety of skills all at once?

Your students will LOVE building letters using pattern blocks using these alphabet pattern block cards… and you will love all the geometry, counting, and beginning sound practice they will be getting without even realizing it!

To prep this centre, simply print, laminate, and cut. Your students will need pattern blocks and white board markers (not included). They will choose a card and use the pattern blocks to build the target letter.

Then, they will do an extension activity for each letter.

Uppercase letter cards:

After building each letter, students will identify which of the five images at the bottom of the card do NOT begin with the target letter, and cover them using square pattern blocks.

Lowercase letter cards: 

After building each letter, students will count and write how many of each block they used using a white board marker.

This math centre is great way for students to practice seeing how we can make new things by combining a variety of other shapes! Building letters with pattern blocks also allows students to explore different attributes of the shapes they see every day.

54 cards in total – 28 uppercase (2 each for Cc & Gg) and 26 lowercase

Each card includes:

• ✓ An anchor word at the top for the target letter to help students correctly identify the beginning sound on their own. These anchor words match my other alphabet resources.
• ✓ Instructions for building the target letter using pattern blocks directly on the card
• ✓ An extension activity at the bottom
• ✓ All cards are rectangular for easy cutting using a paper cutter

Please note that in order for the shapes on each card to match the size of the pattern blocks needed as closely as possible, I was only able to put one card per page.
