FRENCH Ending Sound Pocket Chart Sorts Literacy Centre – Son final

These French ending sounds pocket chart sorts are perfect for helping your French primary students practice ending sounds en français! You can have students can choose 2, 3, or 4 sounds at a time to sort.

This resource includes:

• 4- 6 sorting cards with images for 22 different sounds: a, i, o, g, l, é, n, m, p, q, r, t, eau, an, et, in, ain, ou, eu, ouille, ch, on (all sounds have 6 pictures except “ouille” has only 4)
• An “I Can” card to help foster student independence during centres
• A recording sheet for students to record two of the letters they sorted

Simply cut out the cards and laminate for durability. I like to store each letter in separate sandwich bags.

I do this activity as a centre, so I make available just the sounds I want my students to practice. Note: be careful not to give students cards to sort with the same ending sound (ex. o and eau). Students place the circle cards in the pocket chart, mix up the picture cards, and put the pictures that end with each sound below the correct representation of the sound.

Note: for the purposes of this activity, I didn’t put silent letters on the sound sorting cards. So, for example, “chat” would go under the “a” card (there is no “at” card). Be sure that students understand the game is to sort by SOUND, not SPELLING.

I have also included a recording sheet where students can record two of the sound they sorted!

If you want to use this activity as an independent centre, there is also an “I Can” card included! “I Can” cards help foster student independence – they can follow the directions if they forget what to do. Just print, cut, and laminate if you would like to use it, and store it with your centre materials for this centre.
