Looking for a great way to build your primary students’ fine motor skills while also working on their numbers? Students will practice correctly forming numbers 1-20 while associating each symbol with its quantity as they use these number modelling dough mats. This is a perfect activity for math centres, especially at the beginning of the year!
This resource includes:
- Small mats for each number 1-20 (numeral formation + 10 frame to fill)
- Larger mats for each number 1-10 (numeral formation, counting, 10 frame filling, and a spot to add the correct number of gum balls in the gum ball machine)
- “I Can” cards to foster student independence
You can also provide students with other manipulates to build each number and fill in the mats. I highly recommend laminating the mats for durability and to allow students to use them over and over!
