FRENCH Sounds Morning Messages – Messages du matin (les sons)

Looking for a way to introduce French sounds (particularly sounds composed of two or more letters) to your students, en français, during your morning meeting?

These French sounds “messages du matin” are a great way to show your students each sound, talk about the letter combinations that form them, and start a discussion about words that begin with and/or contain each sound.

This resource includes one morning message for 20 different sounds (digrammes + trigrammes). I have also included images for each message that contain the target sound, to display along with the message.

You can choose to project the messages, print them out poster-size and glue them on chart paper, or copy them over on chart paper with markers and just use the included images to illustrate your message. I like to add a circle map at the bottom and record other words my students know for each sound.

Each message gives examples of words that contain the target sound, and asks students to think of other words that also contain the sound.
