FRENCH Writing – Google Slides™ Lessons – Animal Research Project | Écriture

I’m thrilled to introduce you to my “French Primary Animal Research Project” – your new go-to project that makes writing fun and engaging for your primary students.

They will be SO proud of their final project!

Your students will use non fiction books (not included – I borrow from the library each year) to do age-appropriate research (pulling information from pictures and/or text), create a rough draft with lots of support and sentence stems, make corrections and revisions, and create a final project (book, poster or pamphlet) on their animal.

You can also use their final project for oral presentations!

This resource includes:

• A graphic organizer with three categories of information for your students to research (where their animal lives, their appearance, and an interesting fact)
• Writing paper to do a rough draft with symbols that match the graphic organizer
• 8 Google Slides™ lessons (56 slides in total) to support your students as they work through their rough draft
• Complete teacher instructions/explanations

Despite only 10 lessons, I find this project takes about 3-4 weeks to complete once we add in time to do research, type our rough drafts (optional), create the final projects, and present them.

Note: I have successfully done this project with both maternelle and first grade students, and it would also be a great fit for second grade. In maternelle, I suggest waiting to closer to the end of the year. In première année, anytime after Christmas should work, and in deuxième année, anytime of year. In maternelle, if you can have another adult in the room to help with the day you do the research, it will run more smoothly!
