I’ve structured this TeachAlong™ in six modules. Here’s the breakdown:

MODULE 1

In Module 1, “Getting Started with Lecture guidée,” I’ll explain how I get started with Lecture guidée each year (maternelle and première année options) and will share some tips for making sure your students get 1:1 correspondence down pat.

MODULE 2

In Module 2, “Les mots fréquents,” I’ll go over how I teach sight words to my students during whole-group and small-group lessons, as well as individual practice.

MODULE 3

In Module 3, “Organization and Planning,” I’ll go over how to form your guided reading groups and how to do a running record, and I’ll show you what’s in my super-helpful guided reading tool kit.

MODULE 4

Module 4 is a big one! This is where I will explain exactly how I teach all seven reading strategies to my students, as well as give tips and ideas for practicing each one. I’ll also go over how exactly I play many of my guided reading games with my small groups.

MODULE 5

In Module 5, “Les sons composés,” I’ll explain my system for teaching and practicing sons composés with my students, as they are ready.

In this bonus module, I’ll share all my favourite levelled guided reading books for niveaux 1 à 5!

Q: What does it mean that the course is “self-paced”?

A: When I say “self-paced,” I mean that you will go through this course independently. I have only run this course live once in the past, but with all courses now, in order to access the live run, you need to be a member of my Enseignons ensemble membership at that time. If you’re purchasing the course here, then you can work through the videos, workbooks, and weekly overviews at your own pace!

Q: What if I already own a lot of your resources? Will it still be worth it?

A: In a word, YES! My goal is to make sure that it will be worth it for anyone who wants to join. That’s why there are engaging, rigorous reading resources included with the course. The course also contains TONS of videos that explain exactly how I use the resources and exactly how I would teach in my own classroom, and they are full of tips for your classroom and students.

Q: What about math/writing/other subjects?

A: This TeachAlong™ is very focused on guided reading! While you can certainly take the basic framework of guided reading and apply it to math or writing instead, I chose to focus this course very specifically on using guided reading to teach reading in French, since this is such an essential skill for students’ later academic success. Throughout this TeachAlong™, we will not be discussing any other subjects.
